CORPORATE PROFILE.

 

Bolar Pharmaceutical is a Nigerian Pharmaceutical Company engaged in the Importation, Marketing, Distribution and Retailing of pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare products, Surgical instruments and medical consumables.  Bolar was established in 1984 and commenced retail operations in 1987.

 

In 1990, Bolar commenced distribution and wholesaling activities and a year later commenced importation of Zeneca and other pharmaceutical products.  We have in the past been importer distributors for Zeneca, Pharmacia and Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products. We are now a major importer and marketer representing various multinational companies.

 

Bolar’s medium to long-term strategy is to be a prime  sales and marketing company focused on the Nigerian market and providing marketing and distribution expertise to major multinational companies who may or may not have adequate local resources.

 

Bolar’s ten-year vision is to be a major player in the marketing and promotion of pharmaceuticals, consumer healthcare products and medical consumables in Nigeria by developing close relationships with selected multinational companies and providing local expertise.

 

Bolar’s objective is to expand and strengthen its marketing and distribution expertise and capabilities in the Nigerian market and focus on selected Multinational companies in ethical pharmaceuticals, consumer healthcare, and medical consumables and medical equipment.

 

AGENCIES.

Bolar currently represents various companies in different roles.  The arrangement in each case is structured to meet the needs of our principals.

 

ETHICON (JOHNSON & JOHNSON COMPANY) We act as the Scientific office and consultants to  Ethicon products, Codman Neurosurgical Instruments, Cordis Cardiovascular Products, Depuy Orthopaedics (Johnson & Johnson) for the Nigerian market.  We promote their range of products through a team of 4 medical representatives and coordinate distribution through a network of importer / distributors

 

GRUNENTHAL GmbH Grunenthal is a German Company well known for it’s strong analgesic Tramal.  Bolar is the sole agent for Tramal and handles the importation, marketing and distribution for the products.  Promotion is through a team of 5 medical representatives and corporate distributors.

 

PALL MEDICAL, S.A PALL Medical is a division of PALL organization world wide. They specialize in manufacture of highly efficient medical filters for bacteria / viral, heat and moisture exchangers for anesthesia, blood transfusion, I.V fluids and drugs. Bolar markets the various products in Nigeria.

 

GOLDSHIELDS We are sole agents for Ajanta of India which produces a range of quality pharmaceuticals.

 

SUPPLIES AND CONTRACTS Bolar is a well known and trusted supplier to several government and private organizations and have built up a reputation over the years.  Our supplies are not limited only to products from our own suppliers but include a wide range of drugs and medical items.  Our major clients include:

• National Hospital, Abuja. We recently received an Award to supply N27.1m worth of neurosurgical equipment.

• National Programme on Immunisation (NPI)\

• NNPC

• Nigerian Security, Printing and Minting Company (NSPMC)

• NPA

• Various Teaching Hospitals - LUTH, UCH, OAUTH etc

• Various Private Hospitals

• Oil Companies (Shell, Mobil, etc.)

• Nigerian Army

MARKETING & SALES.

Bolar is basically a marketing company and will continuously strengthen her capabilities in this area.  Bolar has a sales force of 5 medical representatives for Grunenthal and Ajanta products and 4 medical representatives for Ethicon and Pall covering the whole country

 

DISTRIBUTION:

Bolar has a depot in Lagos and we distribute all over the country and we have a network of wholesale customers in all regions of the country.

 

We have two vans and one truck used for physical distribution.

 

PERSONNEL

Bolar has staff strength of about 20 people, including 3 managers and 5 medical/sales reps. Key members of staff include:

 

MR. BOLADE A. SOREMEKUN: Managing Director, B. Pharm. (Ife), MBA (New

York University, U.S.A). 20 years local and international experience with Johnson

and Johnson and Glaxo Smithkline. He was head of Pharma Division of Glaxo

Smithkline up till May 1996, responsible for Nigeria and Anglophone West Africa.
